# Upcoming order reminders

Remind subscribers before each renewal with the Upcoming order metric, with a manage-subscription link that prompts a customer to manage their upcoming order with complete clarity.

The upcoming order email is the most valuable subscription email you can send. A subscriber who is reminded before billing can swap products, delay, or add to the order; a subscriber who is surprised by a charge contacts support or cancels.

### Klaviyo event name

* `Roadmap: Upcoming order`: fires 3 days before a contract's next billing date.

### Event properties

The full [contract snapshot](/subscriptions/subscriptions-klaviyo-integration.md), plus:

| Extra property | What it holds |
| --------------------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| `next_billing_date`         | the date the renewal bills               |
| `subscription_details_link` | a direct link to manage the subscription |

### Recommended flow structure

1. **Trigger:** `Roadmap: Upcoming order`
2. **Email, immediately:** the renewal summary with one clear CTA:

```liquid
Your next {{ event.product_titles.0|default:'' }} order bills on {{ event.next_billing_date|default:'' }}.
```

Link **Manage your subscription** to `{{ event.subscription_details_link }}` so one tap reaches swap, skip, delay, and add-a-product.

### Strategy

* **Make managing easier than cancelling.** The reminder plus the manage link is what converts "I don't need it yet" into a delay instead of a cancellation.
* **Upsell gently.** Subscribers can add one-time products to the upcoming order: a single suggestion here compounds across every cycle.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.roadmap.so/subscriptions/subscriptions-klaviyo-integration/upcoming-order-reminders.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
