# Run a double-points promotion

Set up a time-boxed double-points or bonus-rate promotion with a second Place an order earner for all tiers or a specific tier.

A double-points promotion is a second **Place an order** earner. Set a higher rate and active dates alongside your everyday rule.

#### Set up the promotion

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Add an earner**

Go to **Loyalty Program → Points**. Click **Add way to earn**, then choose **Place an order**.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Set the promotional rate**

Set the higher rate. For example, set `2` points per `$1` when your default is `1`.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Set Active Dates**

Set the **Start date**. Select **Set end date** to time-box the promotion.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Choose eligible members**

Leave **Membership tier eligibility** empty for all customers. Select tiers for a members-only promotion.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Set visibility and status**

The display name and description appear in the storefront widget while active. Set **Storefront widget display** to **Hidden** for a surprise offer. Set **Status** to **Active** when ready.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

#### How it interacts with your default earner

When two **Place an order** earners apply, the customer receives the most generous one. Rules do not stack.

{% hint style="info" %}
Roadmap currently applies one **Place an order** configuration per order. A collection-specific promotion can therefore determine points for a mixed order.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.roadmap.so/loyalty-and-rewards/points-and-ways-to-earn/run-a-double-points-promotion.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
