# Loyalty welcome emails

Greet every new loyalty member the moment they join, with the Roadmap: Loyalty Welcome metric and the pre-built welcome flow.

The welcome email is an **essential** flow — every program should run one. It lands at the moment of maximum attention: the customer just joined, and this email sets their expectations for how earning and redeeming work.

### Klaviyo event name

* `Roadmap: Loyalty Welcome` — fires when a customer joins the loyalty program.

### Event properties

| Data point               | Event property   |
| ------------------------ | ---------------- |
| Points awarded on signup | `points_awarded` |
| Customer first name      | `first_name`     |
| Customer last name       | `last_name`      |
| Customer ID              | `customer_id`    |

### The pre-built flow

Roadmap's example flow (shipped during onboarding, on request) is deliberately simple:

1. **Trigger:** `Roadmap: Loyalty Welcome`
2. **Filter:** customer is *not currently in this flow* — nobody gets double-welcomed
3. **Email — immediately:** "Welcome to \[Loyalty Program Name]"

Fill the *\[Loyalty Program Name]* placeholder with your program's name.

### What the email should do

* **Confirm the signup reward** if you award one: `You've started with {{ event.points_awarded|default:'' }} points.`
* **Explain the top 2–3 ways to earn** — link your loyalty page rather than listing every rule.
* **Show the first goal**: `You're {{ person.roadmap_loyalty_next_tier_points|default:'' }} points from {{ person.roadmap_loyalty_next_tier_name|default:'your first tier' }}.`

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.roadmap.so/loyalty-and-rewards/loyalty-klaviyo-integration/loyalty-welcome-emails.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
